I have had the desire as of late to answer questions that I hear people asking through the various media available today. Sometimes the questions are implied, and sometimes they are asked explicitly, but it seems that many are questioning today, how the Bible and the notion of God are even relevant in today's society of supposedly "advanced" individuals. Questions I hear are:
Is the Bible trustworthy and applicable today?
Is there a moral absolute?
Is there even a need for absolutes anymore?
Why would God allow such pain in the world?
Why is our society going through the hardships in which it finds itself embroiled?
How can I trust the church?
If I'm a believer in God, and a Christian (and yes there is a difference), how do I survive and live in today's world and have an effective witness?
And many many more.....
There are many folks and theories today that try to say that the bible is old hat; That it is useless, defunct, controversial, intolerant, contradictory, and to blame for most of the problems in the world today. There are plenty of folks who would try to imply that religion in and of itself should be considered the only real "evil". There are those who do not understand why "organized religion" is not the issue one way or another. My desire, is to shed some light on these issues as I see and hear about them. To help give a perspective from the Biblical worldview that both makes sense, and is relevant in a world of skepticism.
As a Christian, I am constantly aware of the growing desire in the general public to find answers, and many seek them in various religions, and especially in Christianity. The only problem is, there are not many in Christianity anymore who are either willing, or able, to be giving answers as the Bible has laid them out. So rather than be a hypocrite who complains and does nothing to correct the problem, I will attempt to begin standing in the gap for those who are seeking to cross it.
You may agree or disagree with me 100% in my positions, neither will bother me, and all thoughts are welcomed! If I can encourage debate, then I feel that something has been accomplished. Questions asked, answered, and defended either way, is the goal. Best Wishes.
